Study Highlights Facelift Benefits

A recent study confirms what Dr. Abhay Gupta’s facial rejuvenation patients already know: facelift surgery turns back the clock on aging and helps people look younger and more attractive. Details of the Study

A team of researchers at Johns Hopkins University asked 483 people to look at digital images of 13 women before or after facelift surgery. The images did not indicate the woman’s surgical status, so participants did not know whether the image was taken prior to facelift or after it.

The participants were then asked to rate each patient image in terms of attractiveness, perceived health and perceived success on a scale of 0 to 100 (the higher the number, the more positive the association). The participants were also asked to estimate the age of the woman in each image.

The results of the study showed that participants rated the images of the patients after facelift more positively. The women in the “after” facelift images were perceived to be more attractive, younger looking, healthier and more successful than the women in the “before” facelift images.

“These findings highlight the multidimensional positive association of facelift surgery and implications regarding social perceptions beyond restoring a youthful appearance,” the Johns Hopkins researchers wrote.
