This 42-year-old female from San Diego, CA was diagnosed with right breast cancer. She chose to have a bilateral mastectomy. She has very thin breast skin and is therefore not a good candidate for breast implant alone. Because of multiple previous abdominal surgeries, she was not a candidate for TRAM flap reconstruction. Dr. Gupta performed bilateral latissimus flap breast reconstruction. Because the patient is quite skinny, she did not have enough back tissue to reconstruct her desired C-cup breast size, so Dr. Gupta also inserted breast implants beneath the latissimus flaps for additional volume. These pictures were taken after the second stage nipple reconstruction procedure.
